11-26 - 11-30

Geography Unit Study
 -7 continents 
 -animals habitats on each  one
 -different people groups on each one
 -bible stories: Jonah and the Great commission
 -Memory verse : Mark 12:31 Love your neighbor as yourself.  

Activities:
-animal habitat cling game - also use the coninent clings to talk about where these habitats are
-map cling game
-dry erase things
-puzzles
-games: spot it, squence, bug pattern,
-button boards, make animal shapes, or a boat shape
-felt book
-dino lacing game
-dino bingo
-bird memory
-paint/color/stamp/dot animal habitat pictures
-animal puppets or people puppets: maybe act out one of the native myths/stories we are reading
-watch the fairy tales books on dvd

-talked about the poles, the equator and the different climates
-talked about north and south, up and down on a map
-read the story of jonah in the jsb, talked about loving everyone even mean people
-read is your mama a llama, talked about llamas in south america
-looked at the jungle page on the spot 1001 animals book, spotted and counted each animal
-made "Brazillian tacos" for dinner, ate bananas

Tuesday:
-talked about asia
-looked at asia on a map of the worlds and a map with all of the Asian countries
-talked about panda bears, only living in china, watched the you tube video of the panda sneezing
-talked about tigers, only living in asia, read a book about tigers
-talked about rice growing in china
-talked about origami in japan and that julian's brother lived there. tried to make origami stars
-read a crocodile's tale, a Philippine folk story
-read some haiku talked about syllables
-read jonahs story in the nlt
-practiced memory verse

11-12 - 11-16

(Trying something new, again - I put all of these things in a basket for the week. I want to make a routine of blocks of time where we choose from these activities, and then record each day what we do)
  Zoo unit study
-letters and letter sounds
  - A words - autumn, ark, (ape, alliagator -emphasize the long and short difference here)
  - K words - kangaroo, kitten
  - G words - Gwennan, gorilla, goodnight

-Noah's Ark - God blesses those who obey  - We must obey God.  Acts 5:29
- Zookeepers try to make the animal's cages look like the habitats the came from... which are..?

-used animals and dryerase board made our own zoo... made shape cages (circle, square rectangle, triangle. talked about colors. wrote the first letter of each animal name, counted them, wrote the numbers 1-6)
-made a few animal cages with animal habitats

Try to remember the reading time and dance party every morning. :)

Monday:

- have the kids help me hang up labels of some things around the house
-get out where the sidewalk ends
-read abc rhyming book

Accomplished:
-read books in the am (mostly poetry)
-read abc rhyming book, made up some silly rhymes (which elias acted out)
-read some poems
-labeled a few things around the house
-played with magnet kit
-played with felt book
-sorted all of the legos by color while playing with them...
-played with mosaic tiles
-elias worked really hard on the lacing string cards, with significant improvement each time

Tuesday

-read abc books
-read the pancake poem
-make pancakes and use the letter cookie cutters, have our name pancakes
-make up stories with finger puppets, sing songs, abc's, itsy bitsy spider, head and shoulders
